Monaco is celebrating the rise of their new teenage star, George Ilenikhena, after the Nigerian striker scored the match-winner in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. The decisive goal, which came in the 71st minute, marked Ilenikhena’s first goal in Europe for Monaco and broke a club record previously held by French sensation Kylian Mbappe.
At just 18 years and 34 days old, Ilenikhena became the youngest player to score for Monaco in the Champions League, surpassing Mbappe’s milestone, who netted his first at 18 years and 63 days. Monaco celebrated the achievement on social media, praising their young striker’s record-breaking performance.
This is Ilenikhena’s second goal against Barcelona, having scored against the Spanish giants last season while playing for Royal Antwerp.
