Giving or receiving cash in any form at one of the National Identity Management Commission’s centers can result in legal action, according to the organization.
Additionally, the commission emphasized that all payments and financial transactions must be performed exclusively through the NIMC Remita platform, forbidding any cash transactions.
An official statement from the commission contained the warning.
The requirement that Nigerians spend N15,000 in order to change their date of birth information was also mentioned.
The commission states that in order to modify the biodata and have a new NIN slip printed, N500 is needed in each case (excluding DOB).
The National e-ID Card would cost N5,000 to replace or renew, it was stated, although card printing services have been suspended in the interim.
The commission further stated that free services include the first issuance of National e-ID cards as well as NIN enrollment, NIN verification prior to enrollment, and National e-ID card issuance.
But it claimed that these payments are different from those made by suppliers of third-party verification services.
Also, “Data modifications can only be made in person at NIMC centres only and not by proxy or at partner outlets.”
