Popular Nigerian businessman and socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has expressed his fervent support for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they compete in the 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Obi Cubana is currently present in Abidjan, the capital of Cote D’Ivoire, where he attended the quarter-final match between Nigeria and Angola at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium.
The AFCON is currently ongoing, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles advancing to the semi-finals after a 1-0 win against Angola on Friday, February 2, 2014.
In an exclusive statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, Obi Cubana revealed his purpose in Abidjan is to motivate and inspire the Super Eagles to secure victory in the prestigious AFCON tournament.
In his words, “no nation is better than Nigeria in the competition,” and this sentiment fuels his belief that the Super Eagles will emerge victorious in the 2023 AFCON, securing their fourth triumph in history. He confidently stated, “Who else is playing in this competition? We can’t go home without winning this cup. Congratulations to Nigerians.”
Nigeria is slated to face the victor of the match between Cape Verde and South Africa in the semi-final of the competition, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Bouake.
