The organisers of the Ghana Football Awards have shortlisted Victor Osimhen in the Best African Player (international) category. Osimhen was recently named the best scorer in Serie A for the 2022–23 season and the league champion.
The Ghana Football Awards’ official Twitter account made the announcement of Osimhen’s candidature.
The Nigerian, who had a strong run in the recently completed season, scored 26 goals to help Napoli win the league for the first time in more than 30 years.
He scored five goals as well, helping his team get to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Mohammed Salah, a standout for Liverpool and Egypt, Riyad Mahrez, an Algerian winger for Manchester City, and Yassine Bounou, a custodian for Sevilla and Morocco, are all on the list.
