Napoli’s Victor Osimhen soared to the 13th position in the club’s historical scorers list after securing his inaugural hat-trick of the season in just 16 minutes during Napoli’s dominant 6-1 victory over Sassuolo in a Serie A clash on Wednesday.
This marked Osimhen’s second hat-trick against Sassuolo since his arrival in Italy in 2020, with his initial feat achieved on October 29, 2022.
Additionally, the 25-year-old forward also notched an assist for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who netted twice in the game, contributing to new manager Francesco Calzona’s inaugural victory after three games at the helm.
The treble propelled Osimhen’s tally to five goals in three matches for Napoli since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations and his 13th across all competitions this season.
His impressive performance solidified his status as the third player in Napoli’s history to score at least 10 goals in four consecutive Serie A seasons, a feat only matched by the legendary Diego Maradona and Attila Sallustro, according to Opta.
Osimhen’s overall tally now stands at 72 goals in 122 games for Napoli, tying him with Paulo Dybala for fourth place in the Serie A top scorers chart with 11 goals from 15 games, while keeping Napoli in the ninth position, just eight points behind the top four.
