In Kigali, Rwanda, a conference honouring international women’s day with the theme “Embrace Gender Equity by Empowering Her through Innovation and Technology” is now taking place. The convention that welcomes African women and the men who adore them encompasses culture, trade, health, and tourism.

On April 26, at 5 o’clock in the evening, the event began in Kigali Century Park Nyarutarama.

Notably, this magnificent event was organised by Mrs. Abolaji Odunuga, Editor-in-Chief of Duchess International Magazine, in collaboration with Custodian Global Consult Ltd.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Abolaji, also known as Duchess, said: “We decided to bring this conference to Rwanda because we found that Rwanda has a very large number of women in leadership positions, and we think it is good to come and learn from Rwanda; to see what women in Rwanda are doing. They are doing special things that make Rwanda develop, granting them recognition in other African countries. I live in the UK, but even there when you talk about African countries, they say Rwanda, if you come to Nigeria, they say Rwanda. It will be fun for us to learn from the women of Rwanda how they do it and take the knowledge to our country Nigeria.”

Prominent men and women from Nigeria, the UK, South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya, to name a few, are present at the event.

Also, it is anticipated that the conference, which is making its debut in Kigali, will be held yearly.

Regarding the team’s cordial welcome, the Duchess revealed: “It was initially planned that next year’s meeting will be held in another African country but we talked to your DG, Frank Gisha, (Frank Gisha Mugisha, Director General of Tourism Department at PSF) who received us very well, we are happy particularly for the way he received us, so we want to come back to Rwanda next year before we go to another country.”

The Four Points by Sheraton Kigali is where the three-day event is still going on.
