According to data released by the Federal Government on Tuesday, the national electricity grid’s failure the day before was what caused the drop in power production from 3,713.1 megawatts to 38MW.

According to industry data obtained from the Federal Ministry of Power, the amount of electricity generated on the grid as of Monday morning at 6am was 3,713.1MW, however this figure fell to 38MW by 10:51am.

On Monday morning, Nigeria experienced a new nationwide power outage following the national energy grid’s seventh breakdown of 2022.

Power user organizations demanded fines after the development against operators or businesses responsible for the ongoing grid failure that has been a feature of Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure since this year.

Several power distribution firms verified the grid breakdown on Monday, and Transmission Company of Nigeria, which manages the energy grid, said that a decrease in system frequency was to blame.

The electrical transmission firm for the federal government argued that a decrease in system frequency was to blame for the collapse in power generation on the grid.
