President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has made significant changes to the leadership of Nigeria’s security and administrative sectors. The President has approved the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, advisers, and the Comptroller-General of Customs, with immediate effect. These retirements pave the way for the appointment of new officials who will be entrusted with critical responsibilities.
The newly appointed officers have been carefully selected to take on key positions within the government. Among the notable appointments are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff, and DIG Kayode Egbetokun as the Acting Inspector-General of Police. Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye has been appointed as the Chief of Defense Intelligence.
President Tinubu has also approved several other appointments to key positions. Col. Adebisi Onasanya will serve as the Brigade of Guards Commander, while Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf, Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa, Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim, and Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote have been assigned to various Guards Battalions.
Additionally, there have been appointments within the Presidential Villa. Maj. Isa Farouk Audu has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of the State House Artillery, with Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu as the Second-in-Command. Maj. Kamaru Koyejo Hamzat will assume the role of Commanding Officer of the State House Military Intelligence, and Maj. TS Adeola will be the Commanding Officer of the State House Armament. Lt. A. Aminu will serve as the Second-in-Command of the State House Armament.
President Tinubu has also expanded his advisory team, appointing two additional Special Advisers and two Senior Assistants. Hadiza Bala Usman has been appointed as the Special Adviser for Policy Coordination, while Hannatu Musa Musawa will serve as the Special Adviser for Culture and Entertainment Economy. Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel and Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim have been appointed as Senior Special Assistants for National Assembly Matters, representing the Senate and the House of Representatives, respectively.
Lastly, Adeniyi Bashir Adewale has been appointed as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, taking charge of this crucial agency.
