Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign, and Michael Olise is one of the players identified as a potential successor.
The player from Crystal Palace, who has emerged as this season’s revelation in the English Premier League, is being courted by the French champions, according to L’Equipe.
The probable transfer comes at a time when Messi’s future at PSG is uncertain following his two-week suspension for an unapproved promotional trip to Saudi Arabia. Messi is reportedly leaving the French giants this summer after the club’s supporters were seen demonstrating against him.
Olise, Rayan Cherki, Bernardo Silva, and Moussa Diaby are potential replacements for the 2022 FIFA World Cup victor.
However, Olise, who joined Crystal Palace for only £8 million in July 2021, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top attackers after contributing nine assists and two goals in 33 appearances this year.
Since Trent Alexander-Arnold in 2018–19, Olise is the youngest player with at least nine Premier League assists. His nine assists rank fourth in the Premier League this season.
Many elite European clubs, including Arsenal and PSG, are interested in the 21-year-old.
Although it is flattering that PSG is interested in signing Olise, some experts think Arsenal would be a better fit for the young forward.
