Manchester United have secured a stunning comeback victory against their city rivals, Manchester City, thanks to a goal from Marcus Rashford.
Despite an injury scare in the first half, Rashford was able to play through and score the winning goal in the 83rd minute. The goal was set up by superstar youngster Alejandro Garnacho.
In the first half, Rashford left the pitch for treatment on what appeared to be a hip injury, but he was only momentarily on the sidelines before rejoining the fray.
However, when Brazilian winger Antony was seen getting ready for the second half, it seemed certain that Rashford’s day was over, instead, Anthony Martial was substituted.
City appeared to be in the ascendancy when Jack Grealish scored the opener for his second goal of the season.
But City couldn’t add to their lead and were punished with 12 minutes to play when Bruno Fernandes exploited a controversial offside call. Fernandes’ equalizer will certainly be a talking point.
Four minutes later, Rashford tapped home to steal the victory and his goal lit the touchpaper at Old Trafford, which erupted in celebration on the pitch, in the stands, and in the dugout.
The result leaves United just a single point behind their city rivals in the Premier League table.
