The state-run Qatari news agency, QNA, announced on its Twitter account that the room will no longer be used for guests, but will instead be preserved with all of Messi’s belongings for students and visitors to view.
The university’s facilities were also used by Liverpool during the 2019 Club World Cup, and were chosen by the Argentine team due to their high-quality courts, gyms, swimming pools, and training stadium.
Hitmi al Hitmi, the director of communications and public relations at Qatar University, stated that the rooms were improved to meet FIFA standards and are considered five-star housing.
Al Hitmi added that the museum will serve as a legacy for students and future generations, and a testament to Messi’s achievements during the World Cup, in which Argentina took home their third title.
