Rihanna, a businesswoman and international pop star, was honored with a statue of herself at New York’s Metropolitan Art Museum.
While she was unable to attend Monday’s Met Gala, the museum paid tribute to the singer during the event.
The Umbrella singer’s pregnant figure stood regal alongside other historic statues in the montage shared on her official Twitter page.
The sculpted image was inspired by her cover spread in the May issue of Vogue Magazine, where she posed with her baby bump in a sheer catsuit and revealed an exclusive about her pregnancy journey.
Rihanna, who is well-known for her unconventional maternity style, has made several public appearances while flaunting her baby bump.
She expressed hope in the interview that society would redefine “what is considered descent” for pregnant women.
On Tuesday, in response to the video, the singer tweeted, “Shut down the Met in marble!” What could possibly be more gilded than that? Lol! We appreciate this historic tribute from @metmuseum and @voguemagazine! You’re all to blame for this one!”
Celebrities from all walks of life walked the red carpet at the annual event. The Glided Glamour and White Tie dress codes required the stars to delve into the fashion archives of late-nineteenth-century New York.
