Renowned Nigerian actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, is gearing up to captivate audiences in the highly-anticipated South African movie, “Magenta Coal,” set to premiere on Netflix. While RMD’s role in the film remains under wraps, expectations are soaring, especially in the wake of his compelling performance in “The Black Book,” where he portrayed Paul Edima, a character driven by vengeance.
“Magenta Coal” weaves a riveting narrative around a family of mining tycoons overseeing South Africa’s largest coal mine. The storyline takes a dramatic twist as Matilda, the mining magnate’s wife, succumbs to the allure of wealth and securing her family’s legacy.
The forthcoming Netflix production, “Magenta Coal,” also features the late South African luminary, Busi Lurayi, in one of her final on-screen appearances before her tragic passing. Busi Lurayi’s untimely death in July 2022 at her residence added an air of mystery, with her associates expressing concerns over the presence of unexplained injuries on her legs and signs of a struggle. She was found lifeless on her bedroom floor, her mouth bleeding, marking an enigmatic backdrop to her participation in the film. It stands as one of her last contributions to the world of entertainment.
This new title promises to be a gripping drama series, slated for release on October 27, 2023. The ensemble cast of “Magenta Coal” reads like a who’s who of accomplished actors, featuring the talents of Connie Chiume, Vusi Kunene, Hamilton Dlamini, Ntando Duma, Nambitha Mpumlwana, Senzo Radebe, Jack Devnarain, Cedric Fourie, Celeste Khumalo, and Omuhle Gela.
