Cristiano Ronaldo, a former forward for Manchester United, was suspended for two domestic games when he accidentally knocked a phone out of an Everton supporter’s hand.
After losing at Goodison Park in April, the 37-year-old was seen hitting the phone as he descended into the tunnel.
Ronaldo was fined £50,000 by the Football Association and departed Manchester United on Tuesday by mutual consent after criticizing manager Erik ten Hag.
However, he is expected to serve as captain at Portugal’s opening Group H match against Ghana on Thursday.
Although it does not apply at continental club level, such as the Champions League, Ronaldo will serve the suspension with any new team he joins, whether they are in England or elsewhere.
He was found guilty of inappropriate and violent behavior during an independent FA hearing.
In August, police issued a warning to him, and soon after the event, he expressed regret to the little admirer.
According to the FA, Ronaldo admitted the charge of inappropriate behavior but not aggressive behavior.
He left Old Trafford after a contentious interview in which he belittled United and declared that he had “no respect” for Ten Hag.
