Rotarians across the World in Jubilation as Crawley installs First Black President in 70Years

Abolaji Odunuga, a UK-based Nigerian, and publisher of Duchess and Duke International Magazine was installed as the president of the Rotary Club of Crawley D1145, United Kingdom, last Saturday in a lavish ceremony, making her the club’s 70th president and the first African president since its founding many years ago.

In attendance were the District Governor Rotn Annemarie Van Bochove Allen, Cllr Richard Briggs, Cllr Yetunde Juliet Adeshile, immediate past District Governor Roger Stent, IPDG Rotn Roger Stent, DGN Rotn TJ Olaleye, AG Rotn Andrew Lawrence, one of the past presidents of Rotary Club Kenneth Harris, AG Christine Moss, District Community Chair Rotn Jacqueline Ussen, District Rotaract Liaison Rotn Sade Demuren, among others.

President Cynthia Oteng of Rotary Sanderstead & Selsdon D1145, the first African to be elected President in her district, was also present to support her colleague.

Also featuring at the event was the installation of new rotary members and recognition of some outstanding personalities.
