For 319 weeks, including a record-tying 186 weeks in a row, she was ranked as the top singles player in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She also achieved five year-end rankings as the top performer. Of all the players in the Open Era, she holds the record with 23 Grand Slam singles victories.
