Atalanta secured an impressive 8-2 victory over Salernitana in Sunday’s Serie A match, with Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman leading the way with a brace and an assist.
The home team took the lead in the 5th minute, with a goal from Jeremie Boga following a ricochet off Salernitana’s goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
Teun Koopmeiners came close to scoring again for Atalanta, but Ochoa made a save. Salernitana responded with a goal from Boulaye Dia in the 10th minute.
Atalanta continued to press for the lead, and were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute after Federico Fazio fouled Rasmus Winther Hojlund.
Lookman converted the penalty kick to make the score 2-1. Giorgio Scalvini scored a header three minutes later to extend Atalanta’s lead.
The home team was awarded another penalty in the half, which Koopmeiners converted. Hojlund also scored, to make the score 5-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Salernitana had a chance to score with a cross from Dia to Krzysztof Piątek, but the striker was unable to make a proper shot.
Lookman scored again for Atalanta in the 57th minute with a strike from outside the box.
Salernitana scored again through Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, but Atalanta continued to dominate with goals from Ederson and Nadir Zortea.
The match ended with a 8-2 victory for Atalanta, putting them on equal points with Lazio in the standings. Fans and experts are now eagerly looking forward to seeing how Lookman will continue to contribute in Atalanta’s quest for the Serie A title.
