Simon Cowell is reportedly set to marry fiancée Lauren Silverman in a lavish ceremony next month.
The 62-year-old media mogul proposed to Lauren just five months ago but is said to believe that “there
is no point in postponing” the wedding.
Lauren, 44, and Simon welcomed a son together eight years ago and are reportedly determined to make
him the centerpiece of the ceremony.
“He has taken charge of the planning,” an insider said. “The date has been set for June.”
“The ceremony will take place in London, naturally with their son Eric at the center.”
The couple stated that they were looking forward to celebrating the day with family and friends and that
Simon “wants to get Lauren up the aisle as quickly as possible.”
It comes after Simon opened up about his decision to marry Lauren last month, explaining that
lockdown brought them closer together.
He also explained how his concern for his son’s future influenced his decision – and how his abject fear
of ever dating anyone convinced him to get down on one knee.
“We were in the same house for over a year and I thought, ‘Well, actually, we get along quite well,'” he
told The Sun.
“And as Eric grows older, he will be increasingly questioned about his parents, and I felt it was the right
thing to do for him.
“I also couldn’t see myself dating anyone else in the future. The concept of going on a first date is far too
strange at the moment.
“My mother and father had an incredible marriage, and I used to refer to them as best friends, which I
believe is a large part of it.
Simon continued by explaining that he is taking a very hands-on approach to the wedding, planning
everything himself to avoid an extravagant celebration.
He stated that he does not wish to have “600 people” on his guest list, as he did 12 years ago for his
50th birthday – and he has also prohibited himself from working with a wedding planner.
And he even claims that the wedding plans are so top-secret that Lauren is unaware of the date or
location.
