SKY Girls Launches ‘Journey to Bloom’, New Series Set to Empower, Educate Nigerian Teens

Nigeria— SKY Girls, a vibrant community dedicated to fostering self-expression and authenticity among teenage girls, has announced the launch of its new series, “Journey to Bloom”. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the series targets viewers aged 13 to 19, while also engaging boys, young adults, and parents. Premiering on Africa Magic Family every Saturday at 6:30 PM.

Designed to address essential themes, “Journey to Bloom” will explore topics such as financial inclusion, behavioral change, and sexual and reproductive health. Through the diverse experiences of characters like Tife, who focuses on financial challenges faced by teenage girls, and Naima and Ajibola, who delve into sexual health issues, the series aims to depict the complexities of growing up in today’s society. Additional characters, including Yomi, Chinedu, and Jibs, will also address common adolescent challenges, including peer pressure and the journey to self-discovery.

According to Adenike Odutola, Country Director of SKY Girls Nigeria, the motivation behind “Journey to Bloom” is to entertain while educating and empowering young viewers. She expressed the desire to inspire a generation of confident individuals equipped to navigate the challenges of adolescence with resilience and grace. The series features a talented cast of emerging Nollywood stars, including Ayomide Boluwatife, Judith Ushi, Isoken Aruede, Wonuola Lanre Akinremi, Nadia Dutch, and Samson Imanah, who bring relatable stories and characters to life.

Production for “Journey to Bloom” began on June 3, 2024. The series will be available on Africa Magic Family and the SKY Girls Nigeria YouTube channel, reflecting a commitment to addressing real-life issues faced by young people and providing them with relatable scenarios and practical solutions.
