The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) outgone Director of Products Certification, Tersoo Iyorshe Orngudwem states that SON has successfully certified 6000 brands, higglighting its commitment to upholding quality standards in the country in its battle against substandard products saturating the Nigeria.
He made this disclosure during an event held in his honour to commence his retirement in Abuja, mentioning the significant concern in the organisation’s responsibilities, especially with over 80 per cent of goods in Nigeria falling into this category.
In the bid to tackle importation of substandard products into the country, SON’s proactive strategy – the rollout of Product Authentication Marks (PAM) is a precision-focused initiative designed to counter the surge of substandard imported goods, propagating SON’s enduring commitment to quality and cementing its resolute stand against inferior products.
Encouraging local manufacturers to adopt PAM, Tersoo, emphasised the pivotal role it plays in fostering consumer confidence, improving profitability, and expanding the market share for domestic producers.
The director-general of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, praised Tersoo’s tireless dedication to the agency, acknowledging his crucial role in steering SON towards growth and excellence.
