Temitope Adeshina has secured her place at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Competing in the women’s High Jump final at the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Championships, Adeshina achieved a Personal Best (PB), Meeting Record (MR), and National Record (NR) of 1.97m on her final attempt. This remarkable feat placed her 3rd, based on countbacks, behind Rose Yeboah and Elena Kulichenko, who both cleared the same height to tie for 1st place.
Adeshina’s journey to this milestone has been nothing short of challenging. The Texas Tech freshman had struggled to regain her outstanding indoor form during the outdoor season, with her highest jump before the competition being a 1.90m, which also stood as her Season’s Best (SB). However, her perseverance paid off spectacularly at the NCAA Championships.
After clearing the impressive 1.97m, Adeshina attempted to clear 2.00m but was unsuccessful in all her attempts. Nonetheless, her record-breaking jump has etched her name in the history books. She now holds both the High Jump Indoor and Outdoor National Records, previously held by Doreen Amata.
