Tems Wins Two 2022 BET Awards

Nigerian sensational songwriter and record producer, Temilade Openiyi professionally known as Tems has won the Best International Act and Best Collaboration in the company of Wizkid and Justin Beiber for Essence at the BET Awards 2022.

The 2022 award ceremony which was held at Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles also had in attendance talented singer, Fireboy, Dinos from France Dave from the UK, Fally Ipupa from Congo, Little Simz from the UK, Tayc from France, Major League Djz from South Africa and Ludmilla from Brazil.

The BET Awards is known to celebrate Black excellence in music, sports and culture.

The singer is widely recognised for her feature on Wizkid’s single, “Essence”, which fetched her a Grammy Award Nomination and equally ranked top ten of the Hot 100 after a remake version which included Justin Bieber.

You would recall that Tems once won Best Collaboration with Wizkid’s “Essence” that featured Justin Bieber.

Essence was once again nominated alongside “Every Change I Get” by DJ Khaled ft Lil baby and Lil Durk, “Whole Lotta” by Bia ft Nicki Minaj, “Family Ties” by Baby Seem ft Kenderick Lamar, “Kiss me More” by Doja Cat ft CZA and “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake ft Future and Young thug, of which Tems won, making her the first Nigerian female artist to ever win the award category.
