Tobi Amusan (OON), a world record holder, has added another eye-catching achievement to her resume by earning a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies and Sports Management from the University of Texas El Paso.
The current African and Commonwealth champion in the 100-meter hurdles, along with three meet records, also earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the same university in 2019.
In December 2022, Amusan was awarded the Best Female Athlete in Africa for the Year by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).
Amusan has excelled much beyond her peers, winning the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she established a record and the World Championships in Oregon when she set a new World Record of 12.12s in the Hurdles event.
She also won the Diamond League championship for the second straight year, demonstrating her status as one of the finest in the world and currently Africa’s indisputable top player.
Chante Clinkscale and Ashantae Harvey, both from the University of Auburn, were beaten by Amusan, who won the women’s 200-meter race in 23.38 seconds and 24.46 seconds, respectively, in the Auburn Tiger Track Classics.
She is at the top of the list of Nigerian athletes who have qualified for this year’s World Athletics Championship, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary.
