Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, and Ese Brume have secured qualification for the World Athletics Championship scheduled to hold in Eugene, Oregon, USA, from 15th to 24th July 2022.

Amusan, who is a Commonwealth Games champion, competed in the 100m hurdles at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Florida, USA, where she recorded a time of 12.62 seconds to secure her qualification for the championship.

Also, Ofili recorded a time of 22.04 seconds in the 200m race at the War Eagle Invitational in Alabama, USA, to qualify for the championship. The 18-year-old is making her debut in the senior category.

Enekwechi, a shot putter, qualified for the championship after achieving the qualifying mark of 21.10m at the recent National Trials held in Lagos, Nigeria.

In the long jump category, Brume’s record of 6.82m at the National Trials also earned her qualification for the championship.

These athletes will be hoping to put up a remarkable performance at the World Athletics Championship and bring glory to Nigeria. The competition is the most prestigious event in the sport and is held every two years.
