Nigeria athlete, Tobi Amusan has broken her old record and set a new record by sprinting at 12.41seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Diamond League in Paris.
She broke the record on Saturday at the Charléty Stadium breaking Gloria Alozie’s 23 years old national and continental record.
She continued her good form after just earning 2 goals medals in women’s hurdles and 4×100m relay at the just concluded African Athletics Championship in Mauritius.
Amusan with a record 12.41s finished first, with Devynne Charlton of Bahamas finishing second in 12.63s while Great Britain’s Cindy Sember secured the third spot with 12.73s in Paris.
With this new record, she becomes the third-fastest women’s hurdler in the world in 2022 as Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn at 12.37 seconds and Alaysha Johnson of the US with 12.40s.
In a few days, she is expected to arrive in Nigeria between 21 and 23 for the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) national trials in Benin city, Edo State. She is also preparing for the World Athletics Championship in Oregon, US on July 28, and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England on August 8.
