Earlier in the World Cup, Wahl drew lots of attention for claiming that he was briefly turned away from the US match against Wales in November because he was wearing a rainbow-colored T-shirt. He also claimed to have been held for 25 minutes at the Ahmed Bin Ali stadium in Al Rayyan before a security commander released him.
