The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored power to seven states impacted by recent outages due to vandalism of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line by insurgents. Electricity supply was restored at 4:56 pm on Wednesday to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states, according to a statement by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply through its 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1,” Mbah noted. “With the restoration of this line, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line 2 is now operational.”
She added that preparations are underway to begin work on a second 330kV transmission line. “All necessary materials for the repairs are on hand, and work will begin as soon as the site is secured for the safety of our personnel,” she said, emphasizing TCN’s commitment to “swiftly repairing the line, thereby increasing the bulk power to the affected area.”
Linesmen will continue patrolling the 330kV line to monitor for any further disruptions, she concluded, thanking residents for their patience and understanding.
