Nigeria’s retired army General Anthony Atolagbe has called for the use of technology to improve security in Nigeria, particularly during elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Atolagbe, a former Commander of Operation Safe Heaven and former force commander in Darfur, Sudan, said that technology such as satellite earth observation capabilities and vehicle and cargo inspection systems could help to reduce the reliance on manpower and improve security in the country.
Atolagbe’s comments come as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that it will conduct elections in all Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Nigeria, with eligible IDP residents given the opportunity to vote.
