According to reports, Nigerian billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is close to acquiring Sheffield United for £90 million.
Although a transfer embargo was imposed last month due to financial issues, the Blades are vying for promotion back to the Premier League this season.
They claim that Mmobuosi, a Nigerian tech entrepreneur whose company Tingo has a market value of about £7 billion, is about to acquire them, which will alleviate their problems.
According to The Times, the owners and directors test for the EFL is currently being conducted on Mmobuosi, although no issues have yet been raised.
According to them, the embargo was placed on them because the Blades neglected to make timely payments on signings, preventing them from making a player acquisition for the ensuing 18 months unless they achieve promotion.
This included payments made to Liverpool for the forward Rhian Brewster, who was signed in October 2020 for £23.5 million but hasn’t lived up to his price tag.
The 22-year-old, who was a member of the England squad that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, tried unsuccessfully to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans and left for Bramall Lane in search of consistent first-team play.
Due to numerous hamstring issues, he has only made 63 appearances for the Blades and has only managed to score five goals and provide one assist.
Additionally, it is said that United is attempting to renegotiate the terms of the payments made to the Swedish club Malmo for the Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, who relocated there last summer.
The embargo was put in place just as Prince Abdullah, the club’s current Saudi owner, was about to sell the South Yorkshire club.
