Egypt’s Minister of Transportation, Kamel Al-Wazir, has unveiled plans to construct a logistics corridor stretching from Tanzania’s Dar Es Salaam Port through a series of logistics areas and dry ports in Tanzania, culminating in a dry port and logistics area in Rwanda.
The ambitious project aims to enhance Egyptian exports’ access to African markets and foster stronger ties between Egypt and other African nations.
The Ministry of Transportation has already established a network of 27 dry ports and logistical zones across Egypt to facilitate the movement of goods and alleviate congestion at seaports.
Minister Kamel Al-Wazir recently inspected the Kigali Dry Port in Rwanda, a key component of Egypt’s African projects. Accompanied by Egypt’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Nermin Al-Zawahiri, the visit underscores Egypt’s commitment to establishing itself as a global trade and logistics hub.
The Kigali Dry Port, covering 50,000 square meters with an annual capacity of 50,000 equivalent container units, serves as Rwanda’s primary dry port.
The inspection aligns with the Ministry of Transportation’s strategic goal, directed by Egypt’s political leadership, to enhance connectivity between Egyptian ports and global trade routes.
