Boniface becomes Eagles’ second most expensive player

Nigerian international Victor Boniface’s market value increased from €12 million to €40 million after an outstanding start to his life in Germany.

The Akure-born striker was among the players whose prices had significantly increased as shown by the most recent transfermarkt update, which featured the current values of the Nigerian national team’s players.

After spending €20 million during the most recent transfer window to join Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Boniface has developed into one of Europe’s most feared strikers.

In addition to being nominated for best player of the month in September, his stellar performance in eight Bundesliga games—seven goals and three assists—saw him win the league’s Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month titles in August and September.

The 22-year-old now ranks third in the Bundesliga for the 2023–24 season with seven goals in eight games, behind only Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and Serhou Guirassy of VfB Stuttgart, who each have 14 and nine goals.

Die Werkself presently top the Bundesliga standings after eight match days, largely thanks to the 22-year-old’s outstanding start to the season.

The Bundesliga team, who spent €12 million on the Nigerian just a year ago, would be pleased to hear of Boniface’s improvement in value.

The forward’s development has been observed by numerous European teams, who are interested in acquiring him.

Though it seems improbable that Leverkusen will sign the Super Eagles striker in January, they won’t completely rule out a summer transfer should the appropriate offer come up.
