One-year-old Ace Liam from Ghana has shattered a long-standing Guinness World Record, demonstrating the extraordinary capabilities children possess when nurtured in a supportive environment. His unprecedented achievement was officially announced at a press conference on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Ace Liam’s journey to the record books began in an unassuming manner, as he imitated his mother, Chantelle Eghan, in her art studio. Chantelle described how Ace, even as a six-month-old, began blending and spreading paint on canvas. By the time he was 11 months old, he was using a paintbrush with intuitive skill.
“He paints when he sees me painting. If I have my setup, he’ll pull his chair and easily come and sit beside me,” Chantelle shared, beaming with pride. This maternal encouragement and an enabling home environment played pivotal roles in Ace’s development as an artist.
Ace Liam’s groundbreaking achievement was solidified during an exhibition in Accra from January 18 to 20, 2024, where his artwork was showcased to the public. This exhibition marked the culmination of his early artistic endeavors, earning him recognition from Guinness World Records. He broke the 31-year-old record previously held by Dante Lamb, who had reached the milestone at age three in 2003.
Ghanaian artist Amarkine Amateifio, who was present at the press conference, highlighted the broader implications of Ace Liam’s accomplishment. “All children are like that. They come into the world as artists, scientists, and engineers. It is we, the adults, who stop them from maintaining this,” Amateifio said. He praised Chantelle Eghan for fostering an environment that allowed Ace’s natural talents to flourish.
Amateifio’s call to action was clear: parents across Ghana and Africa should actively nurture their children’s innate abilities. “At a very early age, all children show their natural inclinations. Children come here to contribute and make the world a better place. This Guinness World Record for Liam should act as an inspiration for parents to pay more attention to their children, provide all the resources, and give the child all the necessary tools so that their gift will flourish,” he urged.
