Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo faces new competition from Cristiano Ronaldo of Al Nassr in the race to win the Saudi Arabian Professional League’s Golden Boot award. However, the Al Hilal forward stated he was unfazed by the challenge that the former Manchester United striker would bring.

Ighalo, who moved to Saudi Arabia in 2021, has 24 goals last season to become the league’s leading scorer.

The Nigerian striker, who in January 2022 went from Al Shabab to Al Hilal, quickly established a reputation as one of the most lethal strikers in Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old is presently third on the scoring list after missing a few games this season. He has scored eight goals. Anderson of Al Nassr is in first place with 12 goals, followed by Abderrazak Hamdallah with 9.

Although he hasn’t scored in the league yet, Ronaldo’s skill in front of goal is undeniable, and Ighalo declared that he was prepared for the battle from the Portuguese player who just joined the competition.

The 37-year-old scored twice during a friendly match between the Saudi Arabia All-Stars and PSG, but Ighalo didn’t lose sight of his squad.

Speaking on OmaSport TV, he said, “Ronaldo is a legend, and he is the best. For me he is the GOAT.”

“I have too much respect and admiration for him. He is going to play for his team and he will score goals.

“I will do my own job in my own Al Hilal, and we will see how it goes at the end of the season. I just want to wish him all the best.”
