Following his suspension for visiting Saudi Arabia, Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi has expressed regret to the squad and his teammates.

The unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia resulted in Messi’s two-week suspension, according to a report on Tuesday.

The Argentine star has expressed regret to the squad and his teammates in response to the criticism, claiming that he mistakenly believed he had the day off and was unable to cancel the trip.

He stated,

“I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always happened. I had this trip organised and I couldn’t cancel it.

“I had already cancelled it before. I apologise to my teammates and I’m waiting for what the club wants to do with me.”
