The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination and willingness to work more closely with the private sector as the only practical way to meet Nigeria’s energy demands.

This was announced by the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, at the 9th Nigeria Energy Conference on Tuesday in Lagos.

Temitope Fashedemi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, spoke as the minister during the opening remarks of the conference with the theme “Affordable, Reliable, and Sustainable Energy through Collaboration.” She emphasized the need for the power sector to increase access to energy through more extensive partnerships with the private sector.

The minister stressed that in order to maximize investment potential in the power sector, effective policies, financial commitments, and investor incentives were all necessary.

Such partners, he continued, were still crucial for the production of sustainable energy.

Ade Yesufu, Exhibition Manager, Energy Portfolio Middle East & Africa, Informa Markets, stated that the Nigerian government was still looking for ways to increase the availability of electricity.
