The Best African International Player honour at the Ghana Football Awards has been won by Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international received the most votes, beating out Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City, and Yassine Bounou of Morocco.

Osimhen won the prize for the first time, making history as the first Nigerian to do so.

Two individual honours have already been won by the 24-year-old this year.

After a stellar campaign for the Partonopei, the Serie A champion took home the top scorer honour in Italy’s top flight and was also crowned the league’s finest striker.

Osimhen is considered the heavy favourites to take home the CAF African Player of the Year honour.
