One of the largest gender equality conferences in the world, Women Deliver 2023 is currently ongoing in Kigali, Rwanda. The event which is expected to host more than 6,000 gender equality champions, feminists, and decision makers from across the world and 200,000+ online attendees is slated for 17-20th July 2023.

Speaking on the event, Rwanda’s First Lady, Jeannette Kagame took to her Twitter account, “Any good cause requires the mobilization of all committed hearts!”

On the second day of the event, Jeannette met with Burundi’s first Lady, HE Angeline Ndayishimiye “who was invited for a discussion on achieving gender equality, and the importance of inclusion for sustainable development.

Also present at WD2023 is the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, former Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, CARE’s Secretary-General, Sofia Sprechmann and former South African First Lady, Graça Machel, among other notable personalities.

Women Deliver Conference 2023 aims to catalyze collective action to advance gender equality, hold leaders accountable, empower the feminist movement, reframe who leads, and create space.

In addition, the vision, theme, as well as objectives of the conference, were carefully decided upon by the WD2023 Advisory Group, in consultation with over 5,000 advocates which of course comprises 166 countries, generations, and sectors who took part in design sprints and Women Deliver’s Global Community Consultation.
