English Premier League side West Ham United is intensifying efforts to secure the signature of Super Eagles and Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi during the upcoming January transfer window.

In a strategic move to bolster their defensive lineup, the Hammers find themselves in the market seeking a replacement for the long-serving Aaron Cresswell, who has been a stalwart for the club since his arrival from Ipswich Town in 2014. Despite nearing the exit door in the summer after nine seasons, the 33-year-old was retained by the London Stadium outfit. However, West Ham manager David Moyes is evidently exploring options to fortify the left-back position.

Reports from TEAMtalk suggest that the Hammers have been actively scouting potential candidates, with Zaidu Sanusi emerging as a standout prospect. The Nigerian international, who joined Porto in 2020, has reportedly captured the attention of West Ham scouts, including technical director Tim Steidten, who has been an admirer of the player for an extended period.

Zaidu Sanusi, currently 26, recently made a comeback after recovering from an injury and showcased his form in Porto’s last two games. West Ham representatives were reportedly in attendance, closely monitoring the player’s performance.

The left-back, who has netted seven times in 118 appearances for Porto, previously plied his trade with the lesser-known Portuguese club Santa Clara. His versatility and defensive prowess have not only impressed at the club level but have also earned him 15 caps for the Nigerian national team since making his debut in 2020.

Should West Ham secure the services of Sanusi, it would mark a significant addition to Moyes’ squad, offering a fresh and dynamic dimension to their defensive lineup. The January transfer window is shaping up to be a crucial period for the Hammers as they seek to reinforce their squad for the challenges ahead in the Premier League. The potential acquisition of Zaidu Sanusi holds the promise of injecting new energy into West Ham’s defensive strategies, and fans are eagerly anticipating how this transfer saga unfolds in the coming weeks.
