Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, made his debut for the Udinese in the Coppa Italia round of 32 match against Cagliari on Wednesday.

Okoye has not played for 14 months after concluding a four-year contract with the Italian team in the summer.

The 23-year-old, who arrived from Eredivisie team Sparta Rotterdam last year, played just two games during his one season at Watford.

Before Wednesday’s match, Okoye last played for Watford in a club match on August 23, 2022, when the Hornets lost 2-0 to MK Dons in a Carabao Cup second round match.

Although Okoye was once the top custodian for the Eagles, his experience with the national team was tainted by expensive mistakes and threats to his life.

Furthermore hurting his prospects of making the Eagles was his lack of participation with the English club Watford the previous season.

Although he did not play in either of the games last month, the 23-year-old was recently granted a return to the Eagles for the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

When the Zebrette play AC Milan in Serie A at the Sansiro on Saturday, he will be hoping to stay in goal and compete for a spot in the Nigerian squad for the AFCON in January of next year.
