According to media sources on the Belgian portal Nieuwsblad, Serie A leaders Napoli are apparently thinking about acquiring Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface as a potential replacement for compatriot Victor Osimhen, who has been on the radar of prominent clubs in Europe.

Amazingly, both players share some commonalities in addition to the fact that they were both born in Lagos.

In a trade costing about €2 million, the 22-year-old Nigerian forward transferred from Bodo/Glimt to the Belgian team last summer. Considering his explosive play this season, the cost now seems like a steal.

In 43 appearances for Saint-Gilloise in all competitions in the 2022–23 season, Boniface has made an immediate impact with Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring 19 goals and dishing out eight assists.

According to the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad, Napoli has been closely monitoring Boniface this season and has been impressed with what they have observed. They are interested in making a deal in the summer.

A deal is feasible for the interested Italian sides because Saint-Gilloise valued the old Bod/Glimt at about €10 million.

With five goals, the former Real Sapphire youth player is tied for second place with Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, this season’s UEFA Europa League’s top scorer.
