At the recently concluded 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) reiterated its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Speaking after a high-level meeting between the NGF and development partners, Mr. Eghosa Omoigui, Assistant Director, Head of Stakeholder Relationships at the NGF, highlighted the progress made in education, health, and infrastructure at the state level.

“We have made significant progress in health and education, but we need to monitor these goals more closely as 2030 approaches,” Omoigui said. He also emphasized the importance of technology and partnerships in accelerating the achievement of the SDGs.

Development partners, including Bloomberg and representatives from the UN, expressed their support for Nigeria’s efforts. “We’re going to look back and see what progress has been made, this time through a more accountable lens of monitoring and evaluation,” Omoigui added.
